Bénévolat FAQs
What fees are involved?
If you are looking to gain experience in an interesting field, it might be difficult to get this privilege for free. If you were to simply apply to get paid to do the same job, you might find it very difficult to get accepted and it may take many months to sort out both for a position and for a working visa. Also, volunteers and interns who pay to do these jobs provide a very much needed income and services to the NGO, often allowing them to continue and expand their work. You will become an invaluable asset to the NGO during your time here.
Volunteer fee is a combination of: the Project Fee and the Placement Fee. The Project Fee covers the project costs for making sure you are safe and well looked after, kept busy and making a difference to the area of focus of the project. La Montaña adds no commission to any project. We instead ask for a placement fee of U$150 to cover our costs for promoting the project and providing volunteer support during the time spent with us. You will also need to cover the cost of your flights, visas (if required), health insurance and vaccinations. You should also have a small budget for personal spending, sightseeing and buying souvenirs.
