Lago Gutierrez is a smaller lake southwest of Bariloche. This area is lovely and sheltered compared to Hahuel Huapi lake that has constant wind
coming from Chile. The area of Lago Gutierrez is great for mountain biking or horse riding and the beach is a great place for a sunny day by the lake. Fishing is permited everywhere until April so bring your rod along if thatswhat you enjoy. From town it's a 35minute bus ride on the line #50 which costs 17 pesos one way. Lago Gutierrez is the second to last stop and the bus departs from the small bus shelter every 20 mins. One block away from the bus stop by the museum is a despensa where you can get hot water for 10 pesos to top up your thermos for the traditional Argentinian Mate. Lago Gutierrez is also the starting point for the walk called ´Cascada de los Duendes´and there is a fantastic view point 800m uphill from the waterfall. The waterfall is a 30minute walk around the border of the lake on a gravel road and that leads you to a forest path were you can hear the rush of the river and then birds will call your name.
